1. blocking drills. Have a friend throw the ball at the ground. Block it, pick it up, get in throwing position. Game speed.
2. put three balls 20-25 feet behind you. One to your left, one directly behind you, and one to your right. Have a friend call out which one to go to, and go retrieve the ball, using the slide technique
3. Work on fielding bunts.
4. Make sure you have good footwork on your throws to second and third base.
5. Jump rope to help your agility. You need it to be able to shuffle back and forth, and to get your feet in position to throw or block
6. Plyometric excercise. Find some boxes or something, and jump over them repeatedly. It builds the leg explosiveness that you’ll need to make quick movements and throws.
Practice blocking drills. College’s love to see catchers with good blocking abilites. Just have a friend throw baseball from 15 feet away and practice dropping to the ball.
blocking pitches, catching pitches, (get a machine that throws different kinds of pitches) and throwing the ball to second base
Do what the Molina Brothers dad did. Be on concrete and have some one throw golf balls to you on the ground. Block those and you will be good to go!
